  1. Completed scholarship application.
  2. A “creative” YouTube video produced by you: If I could teach high school students about money or finances, it would be . . . . (5 minute maximum), email your YouTube link to scholarship@cypruscu.com . This should not be produced by a professional. We are looking for extra effort beyond the applicant talking to the camera and we would like to see you in the video.
  3. A one page essay: “What attributes do you possess that will make you successful in the future and why?” Include the following: what you plan to do with your degree or training, honors, activities, sports, clubs, community involvement, leadership and work experience, or any other experience you feel should be considered. Essays will be judged on the overall quality of writing.
  4. Copy of your letter of acceptance to a college, university or trade school in Utah.
  5. School transcript (official or unofficial).
  6. List of other scholarships or financial aid received.
  7. If not used within 30 months, Cyprus Credit Union reserves the right to award the scholarship to someone else. If you do not have plans to attend college directly after high school graduation, you may request a deferral.
  8. A check will be made out to the college, university or trade school and the student.

Selection Process

The Scholarship Committee, based on the quality of the application and materials provided, will select scholarship recipients. Simply completing an application with all its component parts, does not guarantee an award even if there are fewer than 15 applicants. The committee reserves the right to award as many or as few scholarships as meets its criteria. All scholarship applicants will be notified of the Committee’s decision on or about May 1st if not before. Up to 15 - $1,000 scholarships may be awarded to students from the following school districts: Alpine, Davis, Canyons, Granite, Jordan, Murray, and Salt Lake. Students from other Utah school districts should inquire before applying. If an applicant is a dependent or employee of Cyprus Credit Union, an independent committee will select from those applicants and up to five of the total scholarships may be awarded to Cyprus dependents. Applications from high school seniors must be received by mail or email between January 1st and April 1st at 11:59 p.m.
